PHOENIX — Troy Hayden, the long-time Valley journalist and television anchor, joins the 12News team this morning.
He'll initially be on Today in AZ in the mornings while also anchoring the station's Olympic Zone coverage at 7:30 p.m. After the Olympics, Hayden will join the evening anchor team of Mark Curtis, Caribe Devine and Tram Mai. That group has more than 100 years of journalism experience between them, making them the most experienced anchor team in the Valley.
"We’re so excited to have Troy joining the 12News family," said Kate Morris, the president and general manager of 12News. "He is a much-loved presence here in the Valley and brings extraordinary journalistic experience to the station.”
Hayden has been an acclaimed journalist in the Valley for 30 years, beginning as an evening anchor in 1994. He switched to anchoring mornings in 2016 and has covered some of the Valley's largest stories, including high-profile trials and executions. He's gone to the U.S. border, been inside political war rooms, dove in nuclear submarines and spelunked his way through Arizona caverns.
"Troy embodies the 12News value of ‘Dedicated to Journalism, Dedicated to You," said Ivan Hernandez, news director at 12News. "Troy is passionate about journalism and completely committed to bringing the Valley fair and accurate reporting while enlightening viewers and making our community a better, more informed place.”
