Thieves steal $11,000 worth of fencing from Gilbert horse rescue

The horse rescue's property in Ash Fork fell victim to a theft that involved stealing stalls and pens.

GILBERT, Ariz. — Law enforcement officials are attempting to identify who stole $11,000 worth of horse stalls and pens from a rescue based out of the East Valley.

The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office said the theft was reported on Jan. 3 at a property in the Ash Fork area. It's not clear when the stalls were stolen and no witnesses have been located.

Wildhorse Ranch Rescue, based out of Gilbert, operates the 100-acre property in Ash Fork, which is part of an expansion project for the organization.

In an email to 12News, the rescue's founder said whoever stole all the panels would have needed a large truck and lots of manpower to remove all the property. In addition, the rescue said that all the panels had been chained and locked up.

Wildhorse Ranch posted a video about a year ago of its team members delivering and installing all the large pen equipment.

The rescue is now hoping someone will come forward with information about the theft, the founder added.

Anyone with info about the incident can contact YCSO at 928-771-3260.
