UTV crash in Arizona kills one teen, injures another

COCHISE COUNTY, Ariz. — A 13-year-old girl has died and a 14-year-old girl is in critical condition after a UTV crash in Cochise County on Saturday, according to authorities.

The Cochise County Sheriff's Office confirmed to 12News that the crash happened on private property on Hawkeye Road in Elfrida at about 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The sheriff's office said both the teens were ejected from a side-by-side UTV. 

The teen who survived the crash was rushed to a hospital in the Tucson area for treatment. An update on her condition is not available.

Safety equipment, such as seatbelts and helmets, was not in use at the time of the crash, the sheriff's office said. 

The names of those involved have not been released.
