GOLD CANYON, Ariz. - Huzzah! Get ready to immerse yourself in 16th century fun at the Arizona Renaissance Festival.

The 28th annual festival has arrived in Arizona and it's full of new shows, artisan shops, unique treasures, 16th-century characters and more.

The Arizona Renaissance Festival is a medieval amusement park full of adventure. Folks can see a variety of shows and performances on the 13-stage theater, visit the arts and crafts fair, see knights joust it out in a jousting tournament and of course, feast on all of the delicious food.

You never quite know what you'll run into at the festival -- you could see one of the 2,000 costumed characters, eat a giant turkey leg from one of the food stands or test your skills in dozens of medieval games.

This year a new attraction has been added: mermaids, or as they call them "sea fairies." The Sea Fairie exhibit has been added and it is definitely worth the wait! The line may be long but once inside you get to see a mermaid or two swimming around. Plus, you can take pictures with them!

A new attraction this year at the festival is the "Sea Fairies," where you can see live mermaids.

The festival is also full of dozens of booths that sell a variety of things -- from handcrafted roses to paintings to candles and more. You can spend hours walking up and down the roads of the festival and also stop by the petting zoo to see dozens of cute animals.

There is a ton to do, so don't miss out! The festival runs until March 27 and is open rain or shine on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pets are not allowed and there is free parking.
