YUMA, Ariz. — A man has been arrested following a fire in Yuma that burned multiple acres of a wildlife preserve on Saturday afternoon.
The Yuma County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the area of the Colorado River and Zoo Island in reference to a large fire on May 25. Multiple agencies responded to the fire and worked to extinguish it.
The fire burned several acres of the Imperial National Wildlife Refuge, authorities said. Authorities said arson was the cause of the fire and arrested suspect Jason Martin, 47, of Yuma. He is facing charges of reckless burning, arson of structure/property, criminal damage, burn wildlands violated order and endangerment.
