YAVAPAI COUNTY, Ariz. — A fight over barking dogs ended Sunday with a 67-year-old sustaining a gunshot wound and being flown to a Flagstaff hospital.

The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office said deputies were dispatched to Seligman for reports of a shooting off of Old Highway 66. Deputies learned that 48-year-old Chad Ternasky had allegedly been yelling at the 67-year-old victim's barking dogs, resulting in an argument between the two individuals.

Witnesses told YCSO that Ternasky allegedly retrieved a gun from his vehicle and shot the victim in the abdomen. Law enforcement officials later detained Ternasky and the suspect has been booked into jail.

YCSO said the wounded victim is expected to recover.
