YAVAPAI COUNTY, Ariz. — A 69-year-old man died Saturday during a family hiking trip along Parson's Trail in Clarkdale.
The man's daughter called the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office for help on Saturday at about 7:30 p.m. after the 69-year-old father had collapsed.
The family had been at a swimming hole throughout the day and as they began to hike out of the area, the man collapsed about half a mile from the trailhead. Family members attempted to call 911 but phone service was limited, YCSO said.
The man was deceased by the time deputies arrived. His body will be transported to the medical examiner.
Dehydration and high blood pressure appear to have contributed to the man's death, YCSO said.
