BLACK CANYON CITY, Ariz. — An impaired driver is facing criminal charges after he allegedly crashed his car into an APS pole Tuesday night, resulting in all of Black Canyon City losing electricity.

At about 8:30 p.m., residents began calling the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office after they heard a loud crash and lost power at their homes. Deputies responded to the area of Coldwater Road and found a man who had crashed his car into two community mailboxes, a street sign and utility pole.

The driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and was taken to the hospital for injuries, YCSO said.

Power was restored to Black Canyon City within a couple of hours and the crash reportedly caused about $10,000 in damages. YCSO said criminal charges will be submitted to the county attorney for review.
