Sheriff: Body recovered after 2 people fall near bridge east of Winslow

The sheriff's office said a woman was flown to the hospital for severe injuries and a man's body was recovered from the water.

NAVAJO COUNTY, Ariz. — The body of a 37-year-old Winslow man was pulled from the water Monday after he fell near the Chevelon Canyon Bridge.

The Navajo County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded Sunday to a 911 call about two people who had fallen near the bridge off of Territorial Road.

A team located and rescued a 36-year-old woman from the rocks. She sustained severe injuries and was flown to a hospital.

NCSO said the rescue team continued searching for the other subject but did not find him until the following day when his body was recovered from the water. He's been identified as Sherwin Yazzie.
