YAVAPAI COUNTY, Ariz. — A 15-year-old girl was airlifted to a Phoenix hospital Tuesday after she was thrown into the windshield of a vehicle that crashed south of Prescott.
At about 2 a.m. on Dec. 26, a car rolled over on Copper Basin Road after hitting an embankment, according to the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office.
Five teenagers were inside the vehicle at the time but four of them were not injured. One 15-year-old girl, who reportedly wasn't wearing a seat belt, sustained a serious head injury after she hit the car's windshield.
As of Wednesday, the girl was listed as being in critical condition in the hospital's ICU.
YCSO said the agency extends "our utmost hope and prayers for the young lady’s full recovery."
Investigators don't believe impairment was involved in causing the crash but the incident remains under investigation.
