FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The National Forest Service is reminding the public that towers used for spotting wildfires are accessible to all.

Towers like the one atop Mt. Elden in Flagstaff are staffed with spotters who work to identify fires when they spring up, and to provide bird's eye advice when weather is approaching.

There are several spotting towers in northern Arizona, and officials with the National Forest Service say that they're not just an effective tool for battling wildfires; they also provide amazing views and stunning scenery.

Officials ask that anyone who wants to climb one of the towers check with the tower operator first to make sure they don't interfere with any work.
