COTTONWOOD, Ariz. — A former corrections officer was arrested Monday in Cottonwood after police reported finding over 1,000 fentanyl pills in a car they were traveling in, police said.
A police officer conduct a routine traffic stop near Main Street and SR-260 on Jan. 15 at about 9:30 p.m and reported finding illicit drugs in the vehicle.
During a search, the officer allegedly found over 1,000 fentanyl pills, 15 grams of methamphetamine, seven grams of fentanyl powder, one handgun, two vials of testosterone, and one gram of phencyclidine (PCP).
The driver, 25-year-old Ryan Michael Epperson, was taken into custody for multiple drug charges.
A passenger in the vehicle, identified as 47-year-old Deanna Epperson-Fleming, was also taken into custody. Police said the passenger had been a corrections officer in Arizona.
