MOHAVE COUNTY, Ariz. — A pilot has died after their aircraft crashed Sunday afternoon in Mohave County, according to the sheriff's office.
A person in the Topock-Golden Shores community, located near the Arizona-California border line, called the sheriff's office after spotting black smoke about five miles outside of town.
Deputies were led to the crash site and came across an injured individual who identified themselves as the aircraft's pilot. MCSO said the pilot was taken to a Las Vegas hospital and later passed away from their injuries.
No other injuries were reported by the sheriff's office. The pilot's identity was not disclosed.
The plane had departed from Sun Valley-Bison-Fort Mohave Airport before experiencing engine trouble.
The National Transportation Safety Board has identified the aircraft as a Beech A36. The crash remains under investigation with the NTSB and Federal Aviation Administration.
