School districts across Arizona have been investigating threats seen on social media.

TUCSON, Ariz. — Tucson police announced this week that three juveniles have been arrested after more than a hundred 911 calls were made in relation to social media threats targeting schools.

An 11-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy have been taken into custody for allegedly being involved in online threats that have been circulating across southern Arizona.

School districts throughout Arizona have been investigating similar threats seen on Snapchat and Instagram within the last week. Officials have said these threats seem to be designed to create "fear and unrest" in local communities.

Police departments all over the Grand Canyon State have been releasing statements about how they have recently been "inundated" with reports of these social media threats and that some of the threats appear to originate outside of Arizona.

Tucson police said the agency was notified on Sept. 14 of threats targeting a local middle school. At the same time, other viral school threats were being shared which showed different images of other school names in the Tucson area.

The situation resulted in 911 dispatchers receiving over 100 calls, police said.

At this time, Tucson police have not found any credible threats to any local schools.

On Sept. 16, Tucson police was informed about another social media threat targeting local schools and connected it to a 13-year-old boy, who was booked into a juvenile detention center.
