PHOENIX — Firefighters responded to a large fire that engulfed a palm tree farm in the West Valley during Tuesday night's lightning storms.

Rural Metro was dispatched at about 8 p.m. to the area of 83rd Avenue and Broadway Road. Upon arrival, firefighters found about an acre of palm trees on fire. The night's strong winds allowed for the fire to quickly spread to an estimated 150 trees.

The fire was contained and no injuries were reported.

Rural Metro couldn't say for sure how the fire started but it is suspected it's connected to the storms that moved across the Valley Tuesday night.
