PHOENIX — Phoenix weather this October has been nothing short of memorable.
Rainy day after rainy day pushed October 2018 to the top of the list as the wettest October on record in Phoenix. And it's actually not too far from being the second-wettest month on record.
But it wasn't just a busy weather month for Phoenix; that was the case for much of the desert Southwest in the lower deserts of Arizona and southeast California.
The National Weather Service office in Phoenix issued 59 convective warnings, the most across the entire country as of Tuesday. The next closest is Texas with 43.
To break that down even further, NWS Phoenix issued 37 flash flood warnings (the most in the country) 20 severe thunderstorm warnings (fifth across the U.S.) and two dust storm warnings (again, the most nationwide).
