PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. — A hiker who went missing in Gold Canyon yesterday has been located and transported to a hospital.

The Pinal County Sheriff's Office said the 60-year-old woman set out for a hike along the Cloudview trail in Gold Canyon on Monday at about 5 a.m. and did not return. Her car was found parked near the trailhead and PCSO launched a search for the overdue hiker.

On Tuesday, PCSO said the woman had been located and was taken to the hospital. She had suffered heat and fall-related injuries.

“We applaud our Search and Rescue teams along with (DPS) Ranger for their assistance,” Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb said in a statement. “Had the victim spent any more time in the desert, we may not have had this positive outcome.”
