SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — A million-dollar deal will be reviewed by the Scottsdale City Council this week that could potentially result in a redevelopment of Axon's headquarters.
The body-word camera company has proposed rezoning a section of a 67-acre site to allow for a mixed-use component at the Axon campus near Hayden Road and the Loop 101.
The proposal would include five buildings: four of which would be primarily used for hundreds of multi-family residential units and the fifth would be used as a hotel.
"This hotel is intended to be an amenity for the headquarters building to host public safety representatives that travel to Axon for trainings and other Axon employees from out of state, as well as it will also be available to the general public," city documents state.
This proposed Axon headquarters is projected to create 650 new jobs and consolidate 850 jobs currently spread out across the company's operations, according to the city.
The deal would require Axon to build 250,000 square feet of commercial and manufacturing space and achieve a payroll worth $130 million before the company can receive reimbursements from the city.
Axon could receive up to $9.4 million in reimbursements for infrastructure costs that service the community.
Axon will also be expected to secure and transfer up to 3,000 acre-feet in water credits to the city in support of the development project.
The proposed deal will be reviewed Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 5 p.m.
