Mike Tyson is coming out of retirement, was spotted training in Arizona

The former heavyweight champ was training with Maynard James Keenan at his martial arts center in Arizona ahead of this summer's fight.

COTTONWOOD, Ariz. — Mike Tyson is back in the news after announcing his return to the ring – a return that has brought the former heavyweight champion back to Arizona.

The legendary boxer was spotted in Cottonwood training at Maynard James Kennan's Brazilian jiu-jitsu gym, the gym confirmed to 12News. 

Kennan, who owns Verde Valley BJJ and is the singer for bands Tool and A Perfect Circle, posted a photo on Instagram of himself, his wife, Lei Li Keenan, and Tyson at his gym Saturday.

Tyson, 57, is coming out of retirement for the upcoming fight with former Youtuber Jake Paul, 27. The match is set for July 20 in Arlington, Texas and will be streamed live. 

The last time Tyson boxed professionally was in 2005 and he was most recently in the ring in 2020 for an exhibition draw with Roy Jones Jr, according to the Bleacher Report.

Paul made his professional boxing debut in 2020 and has a career record of 9-1, according to the Bleacher Report.
