TUCSON, Ariz. — A makeshift memorial has been started to remember the child killed in a tragic accident at a Tucson elementary school.

News 4 Tucson visited Centennial Elementary on Tucson’s west side Saturday to capture the memorial consisting of balloons, flowers and a stuffed animal.

The memorial is set up to honor an unidentified 9-year-old child who succumbed to injuries sustained Friday when a large metal gate fell on the child.

PCSD has said that the child was helping close the gate at school when it got loose and disconnected from its support, then fell onto the child.

The school district told KVOA News that counselors will be made available to students affected by the child's death.
