SEDONA, Ariz. — A man is dead after falling more than 30 feet while hiking in Sedona, officials from the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office said.

On Saturday around 1 p.m., YCSO deputies responded to reports of a 79-year-old man falling while hiking Pyramid Trail.

The Sedona Fire Department was reportedly already at the scene where they found the hiker. The man visiting from North Berwick, Maine slipped and fell from the trail approximately 30-35 feet while hiking with his wife, officials said. According to YCSO, the man hit his head multiple times when he fell down the embankment and suffered fatal injuries.

He was pronounced dead on the scene and officials said the death was ruled accidental.
