Man dies after falling off his paddleboard at Canyon Lake

The 26-year-old's body was found by the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office around 9:15 a.m. the day after the drowning was reported.

ROOSEVELT, Ariz. — A man is dead after falling off his paddleboard and drowning at Canyon Lake.

Maricopa County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the main bay of Canyon Lake for a possible drowning. Witnesses told police that a man fell off his paddleboard during the storm. 

The man was last seen trying to swim to the shore of the Acacia Recreation site and did not have on a personal floatation device.

On Aug. 23, deputies found the body of 26-year-old Gerardo Nava-Bedolla in about 75 feet of water. Authorities said there were no suspicious circumstances.
