Man dies after being hit by a train in Flagstaff

The crash, which is still under investigation, occurred near Ponderosa Parkway, police say.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — A man was hit by a train and died in Flagstaff, police said.

The Flagstaff Police Department responded to an area near the intersection of Ponderosa Parkway and the train tracks in regards to a crash involving a pedestrian and a train. Upon arriving at the scene, police learned that a man was hit by an eastbound train.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The railroad traffic control devices were activated at the time of the crash, according to police.

The man was later identified as Stacey Menold, 53, of Flagstaff. 

The police are investigating what led up to the incident and ask anyone with additional information to contact the Flagstaff Police Department at 928-774-1414 or Silent Witness at 928-774-6111.
