Juvenile killed in Fourth of July crash in Arizona

PIMA COUNTY, Ariz. — The Pima County Sheriff's Department is investigating a head-on crash reported on the Fourth of July that killed a juvenile driver.

The two-vehicle collision occurred on July 4 at about 8:30 p.m. in the 5200 block of North Casa Grande Highway.

A Ford pickup truck was driving south and a Chevrolet pickup truck was driving north in the southbound lane. Both vehicles attempted to swerve but still struck each other, the sheriff's department said. 

The Chevrolet's driver, a juvenile, died at the scene. A passenger was taken to the hospital for injuries. 

Nobody in the Ford vehicle sustained injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
