Happy National Cactus Day! Here's just how many cacti you can find in Arizona

According to a post from Arizona State Parks, there are quite a few prickly plants across our Southwestern desert state. How many can you name?

PHOENIX — Happy National Cactus Day, Arizona! The cactus may be one of the most recognizable features of the desert: saguaros standing proud and tall alongside barrel cacti with beautiful, vibrant flowers. Arizona just wouldn't be the state we love without cacti. 

To celebrate National Cactus Day, the Arizona State Parks Facebook shared a few different types of cacti you may have seen on hikes or in your neighborhood. Put your knowledge to the test: how many types of cacti can you name?

Here are a few types of cacti mentioned by the Arizona State Parks website. A full list of desert plants can be found here.

  • Barrel Cactus
  • Buckhorn Cholla
  • Chain fruit cholla or jumping cholla
  • Hedgehog
  • Prickly pear
  • Ocotillo
  • Saguaro
  • Teddy bear cholla
