GLENDALE, Ariz. — The Glendale Police Department spent Monday night confiscating several hundred pieces of illegal fireworks.
As part of an operation to track down individuals selling unauthorized fireworks, investigators were able to fill four truck beds with fireworks taken off of Glendale's streets ahead of Fourth of July celebrations.
"Illegal fireworks can threaten public safety, the environment and the community’s well-being," the police department wrote in a statement. "These illegal fireworks can injure people and damage or destroy property."
Glendale city code states nobody shall attempt to sell fireworks to anyone under the age of 16 and nobody can sell fireworks unless authorized by state law or city permit.
