Flash flood warning expires for Yavapai County

Thunderstorms could cause flash flooding in west central Yavapai County Wednesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Flagstaff.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Thunderstorms could have causes flash flooding near the Walnut Creek Ranger Station in west central Yavapai County Wednesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Flagstaff.

NWS issued a flash flood warning for the area after storms brought several inches of rain to the area.

The warning was in place until 4:15 p.m.

Yavapai County residents should watch out for flooding, even in areas that are normally dry, NWS Flagstaff said. Streams and rivers can quickly swell to become dangerous during storms.

A storm was also moving through the Flagstaff area on Wednesday, where heavy rain had caused localized flooding on Tuesday.
