WICKENBURG, Ariz. — One person was killed and others were seriously injured in a four-vehicle crash in northern Arizona Thursday morning. US 93 was closed near Wickenburg due to the crash for several hours but has since reopened, ADOT said.
According to early reports, the crash happened around 7:40 a.m. at milepost 179 near Tres Alamos Road, northwest of Wickenburg.
According to the Department of Public Safety, a box truck traveling northbound reportedly crossed the center lane and struck a commercial vehicle head-on. The box truck caught fire upon impact.
Two other commercial vehicles were also caught in the crash, one rolling over along with its trailer.
First responders pronounced the driver of the box truck dead on the scene. It is unknown how many other people were injured in the crash.
It is currently unknown why the box truck veered across the center line. The driver's identity hasn't been released. Although the fire spread to nearby brush, it was contained by local fire agencies, DPS said.
