Arizona Hot Springs park areas closed because of fecal bacteria

The Arizona Hot Springs Trail, Arizona Hot Springs and the White Rock Canyon Parking lot on Highway 93 are all closed as of Nov. 2.

WILLOW BEACH, Ariz. — High levels of fecal bacteria closed park areas and facilities in Arizona Hot Springs.

The Arizona Hot Springs Trail, Arizona Hot Springs and the White Rock Canyon Parking lot on Highway 93 are all closed as of Nov. 2.

The National Park Service said in a press release that officials are taking “corrective action” to improve water quality over the next few days and the areas will be reopened once the water meets federal and state standards.

The press release also reminds park goers of the “leave-no-trace” principles, which include packing out all forms of trash – especially human feces.
