Fake cop caught trying to patrol Walmart parking lot in Arizona

The suspect accused of trying to impersonate a police officer was recently arrested in Chino Valley.

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. — The Prescott Valley Police Department recently arrested an Arizona man who is suspected of impersonating a police officer outside of a local Walmart store.

On Nov. 11, the police department received a call from a citizen who observed a man in the Walmart parking lot who had been identifying himself as a police officer.

The man was allegedly talking to a woman who had been panhandling. He was seen wearing a badge and a gun strapped to his hip, police said.

When the citizen told the man they were calling the police, the suspect allegedly fled from the scene. A license plate number given to police allowed officers to track the suspect down to a residence in Chino Valley.

Kenneth Gregory was identified as the suspect and he was taken into custody. Police reported finding in his possession a badge, gun belt and police lights attached to his truck.

The crime of impersonating a police officer is a class 6 felony under Arizona law.

Anyone who may have had contact with Gregory is encouraged to contact Prescott Valley police at 928-772-9267.
