Drugged driver crashes into Arizona DPS trooper on SR 69

He now faces charges of driving under the influence of drugs, endangerment, aggravated assault and felony criminal damage.

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - A man was arrested Sunday after he crashed into an Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper's car while driving under the influence on State Route 69.

Just after 8 p.m. on Sunday, 22-year-old Jarrett Tixier, driving a Toyota pickup truck, entered highway SR 69 directly in front of a DPS trooper's car causing a broadside collision, according to Prescott Valley police. After the trooper was hit, the trooper lost control and struck a sign on the side of the road causing front end damage.

The DPS trooper was treated at the Yavapai Regional Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries. Tixier was not injured.

The Prescott Valley Police Department, the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office and DPS were all searching the area after receiving multiple calls of a possible impaired driver.

An investigation revealed that Tixier was under the influence of illicit drugs. He now faces charges of driving under the influence of drugs, endangerment, aggravated assault and felony criminal damage.

Prescott Valley PD encourages people to immediately notify law enforcement to report reckless driving or other suspicious activity. Prescott Valley police can be contacted at 928-772-9267 for non-emergency situations or 911 for emergencies.
