Driver dead after hitting school bus in Arizona

The 31-year-old driver of a passenger vehicle was taken to the hospital and later died, according to the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

PIMA COUNTY, Ariz. — A 31-year-old is dead after a traffic collision involving school bus in southern Arizona.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department said Brian Scupin-Dursema sustained fatal injuries after his car crashed head-on with a school bus Wednesday morning on Arivaca Road.

Preliminary evidence suggests the school bus was traveling westbound and approaching a curve when Scupin-Dursema's car crossed over the double-yellow line and hit the bus.

The school bus driver sustained minor injuries. No passengers were aboard the bus at the time of Wednesday's crash, the sheriff's department said.

The investigation is ongoing.
