Crews are responding to a fire in the Tonto National Forest northeast of Payson.

PAYSON, Ariz. — Fire crews are responding to a vegetation fire burning in the Tonto National Forest. 

The fire is burning off the Horton Creek Trail 292 in Horton Creek Canyon, according to forest officials.

This is near Kohls Ranch, northeast of Payson. 

Officials say smoke from the fire is visible from SR 260. 

The fire has burned roughly 45 acres and the cause is under investigation.
