Arizona woman dies after car falls 1,000 feet down a mountainside

39-year-old Kristin Little was found dead in the Thumb Butte area near Prescott after her car went off a cliff and fell 1,000 feet. Here are the latest details.

PRESCOTT, Ariz. — An Arizona woman was killed when her car went off a cliff southwest of Prescott and fell about 1,000 feet on Friday, according to the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office

YCSO said deputies were called to the Thumb Butte area, about two miles away from Copper Basin Road at about 5 p.m. on Friday due to a car falling off a cliff.

When deputies got to the area, they found the car about 1,000 feet down a steep mountainside. Deputies were able to hike down and found the body of a woman, identified as 39-year-old Kristin Little of Prescott, who had been killed in the accident.

YCSO said Little was ejected from the car after it had fallen about 500 feet.

Deputies checked the area using drones and an Arizona Department of Public Safety helicopter to see if there were any other victims but did not find anyone.

Due to the terrain in the area and the lack of sunlight, YCSO deputies decided to wait until Saturday morning to recover Little's body.

YCSO personnel stayed with Little's body all night and were able to recover her body and transport her to the medical examiner's office just before noon on Saturday.

Deputies said they believe Little was driving north on Thumb Butte Road and swerved to the left, causing her car to go off the road and down the mountain.

This incident is still under investigation.
