PRESCOTT, Ariz. — A Prescott Valley boy died after being hit by a car while riding his bicycle, according to officials with the Prescott Valley Police Department.

First responders were called Viewpoint and Manley drives just before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday for reports of a crash involving a vehicle and bicycle. Crews found a boy at the scene that needed immediate medical attention, officials said.
The 14-year-old was flown to a Phoenix hospital where he died, officials said.
The driver of the car was detained by officers for an investigation.
"The Prescott Valley Police Department places great value on human life and the safety of our community," a statement from the department said. "We are committed to a thorough investigation to determine the exact circumstances and contributing factors that led to this tragic incident."
