TUCSON, Ariz. — It's yet another brutal case of domestic violence in Tucson.

Jasmin Rede is in the intensive care unit at Banner UMC after Tucson Police detectives reported she had been stabbed up to eight times in the neck and torso.

The attack happened Monday afternoon at her midtown home she shared with her boyfriend Caid Stough. The couple share two children.

According to the interim complaint, Stough told investigators he stabbed Jasmin after they had an argument related to him believing she cheated on him. Stough said she pushed him so he grabbed a knife and stabbed her multiple times.

After the stabbing, he said he couldn't live with what he did and cut his neck. The injury can be seen in his mugshot but was not life threatening.

Jasmin's three children were in the home at the time of the stabbing, they are now being taken care of by their grandparents.

Stough is charged with attempted manslaughter and appeared before a judge Tuesday night,

Prosecutors were asking for a $500,000 bond but the judge decided to raise it to $1 million.

Jasmin's uncle, Ray Rede, spoke briefly, he asked for Stough to remain in jail without a bond but the judge explained she couldn't do that under the law.

Stough was already on probation for a charge related to theft.

Pedro Rede, Jasmin's brother, spoke exclusively to News 4 Tucson Wednesday as he waited for a flight out of Texas to be by his sister.

“He broke my whole entire family," Pedro said.

Pedro also knew Stough since childhood, they were good friends. He told us he can't believe it's possible he would do this and that it's shocking.

“It’s just a side we never thought we’d see out of Caid, it’s just something that none of us saw coming," he said.

Pedro has been able to see his sister through video calls, he became very emotional thinking of her condition.

“It’s sad to see my own sister in the hospital breathing through a tube, unrecognizable. I don't even recognize my own sister," he said.

He struggled thinking of what he would say to Stough.

“You broke my heart, you broke my mom’s heart, you broke my sister’s heart, you broke those little girl’s heart, you broke your son’s heart, everything. I don’t think he can ever take that back," he explained.

According to Pima County Jail records, Stough remains behind bars in a medical observation unit.

The Rede family has set up a GoFundMe page to try and get support for Jasmin's medical costs and support for the children.
