PHOENIX — A farm in Arizona has been put under quarantine after the poultry began displaying signs of avian flu.
The Arizona Department of Agriculture said Friday the poultry farm in Pinal County will be subjected to biosecurity measures and steps are being taken to eliminate the virus.
Eggs produced after the onset of the illness have not entered the food supply. The farm's poultry began showing signs of illness on Nov. 11 before tests confirmed the presence of avian flu, officials said.
Arizona's health officials said the risk to the general public remains low at this point in time.
Avian flu detections have been reported in California, Oregon and Utah over the last couple of weeks, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
