Arizona not even top 10 for hottest states in the summer, study says

The study by 24/7 Wall St. ranked states based on their average temperature in summer.

As Valley residents prepare heat safety kits for another blistering summer in Phoenix with their driving oven mitts, flame retardant suits and SPF 600, you should know all this is being done in a state that doesn't even crack the top 10 when it comes to the hottest summers.

At least, according to a recent list from 24/7 Wall St.

Looking mainly at data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the company put together a list of the hottest and coldest states in the summer. The ranking is based on a state's average temperature in summer. Arizona is not even in the top 10.

While Phoenicians might be melting outside during the summer, their northern Arizona friends, in Flagstaff, Sedona, Prescott, are experiencing temps that are a little more on the milder side.

According to 24/7 Wall St., Arizona is the 11th-hottest state in the summer with an average temperature of 77.3 degrees.

Arizona ranks below Hawaii, South Carolina, Arkansas, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Florida and Louisiana.

Texas is the hottest state in the summer with an average temp of 81.3, according to ranking. The coldest is Alaska with an average of 50.5.
