Arizona is getting a new state park. Here's where you can find it

Rockin' River Ranch is going to be the first new state park in nearly 10 years!

PHOENIX — Strap on your hiking shoes and grab your sunscreen; Arizona is getting a new state park next month!

Rockin' River Ranch will be the first new state park since 2016, according to Arizona State Parks and Trails. There, visitors will get to enjoy all kinds of picnicking, hiking and wildlife-watching options.

The 209-acre park is located in Camp Verde and will celebrate its grand opening on Feb. 9.

Rockin' River Ranch State Park will be open for use on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will cost $7 per vehicle to get in.

“Thank you to all our amazing community partners and stakeholders who helped us reach this milestone,” said Arizona State Parks and Trails Executive Director Bob Broscheid. “Being able to share this beautiful space is something that our agency has been working toward for more than a decade, and we are excited to open the park and welcome visitors.”

Originally acquired in 2008, the park's mix of riparian and high desert landscapes is situated at the confluence of West Clear Creek and the Verde River. It was previously used as a guest ranch, but will now offer miles of multi-use trails and other facilities.

This will be Camp Verde's second state park after Fort Verde State Historic Park, which opened in 1970.
