ARIZONA, USA — You may have noticed that Arizona's flags have been at half-staff at all state buildings Friday.
Gov. Hobbs ordered the flags to be lowered from sunrise to sunset in honor and respect of Yuma City Councilman Gary Knight, who passed away on April 14.
She released the following statement for Knight:
“I was saddened to hear of the passing of Councilman Gary Knight, who was an unwavering supporter and advocate of the people of Yuma. My thoughts are with his wife Bonnie, his kids and the entire Yuma community as they grieve. I have ordered flags to fly at half-staff on Friday, the day of interment, to honor his life of service.”
Knight, a veteran, was elected to the city council in 2013 and served on several state and municipal boards, including an appointment to the State Transportation Board by former Gov. Doug Ducey.
