ADOT released the finalists for the Safety Message Contest. Now you can help pick the winner.

Arizonans submitted over 2,500 ideas to ADOT's annual Safety Message Contest. Here's how you can vote for one of the 10 finalists.

PHOENIX — Ever wonder who writes the safety signs you can see over Arizona's highways? Well, in a way, you do!

Arizonans from all over the state submitted more than 2,500 quips, insights, mottos and recommendations to the Arizona Department of Transportation's 8th annual Safety Message contest. They've narrowed it down to 10 finalists, and now it's up to all of us to pick the winners.

Through Tuesday, Aug. 20, you can vote on your favorite safety messages at azdot.gov/SignContest. The two winners will be displayed on ADOT's overhead message signs across the state.

"Thousands of Arizonans submitted thoughtful and engaging messages, and showed that they support safe driving practices like not speeding and not texting and driving," ADOT Director Jennifer Toth said. "We hope drivers in Arizona continue to have conversations about safe driving behaviors so everyone can make it safely to their destination."
