You voted, ADOT listened. Winners of Name-A-Snowplow contest announced.

Thousands of Arizonans pitched in to vote for their favorite names! And the results are in.

PHOENIX — Snow isn't the first thing on most people's minds when it comes to Arizona, but it turns out that Arizonans have thought through some fantastic snow puns!

As always, the Arizona Department of Transportation's Name-A-Snowplow contest came through with some stellar names. This year, over 9,500 people pitched in to vote for their favorites.

ADOT started taking name submissions back in January, and residents put in picks by the thousands. This year, they received over 3,400 submissions for the contest!

It all came down to 10 finalists. Out of those, Arizona picked some absolute bangers. Here are the winners:

  • “Snowbi-Wan Kenobi”
  • “Fast and Flurryous”
  • “Scoopacabra”

They're joining last season’s winners “Alice Scooper,” “Snowguaro” and “Frost Responder.”

ADOT has 200 snowplows and 400 operators who work around the clock to keep our roadways safe during the winter. The department shared the following tips for what to do if you see one on the road:

  • Never attempt to pass a snowplow.
  • Stay at least four car-lengths behind snowplows and equipment. Plowed snow can create a cloud that reduces visibility.
  • Slow down and give the plow extra room.
