Six men are facing prison sentences in the killing of a young American man that happened in Greece in 2017.
Bakari Henderson, a 22-year-old of Austin, Texas, died after being beaten in the street following an argument in a bar in the popular Laganas resort area of Zakynthos island in July 2017.
Henderson was a graduate of the University of Arizona.
One Greek, seven Serbs and a British citizen of Serbian origin were on trial in the western port city of Patras. The prosecution sought a murder conviction for six of the suspects, complicity to murder for one of the others and causing bodily harm for the remaining two.
A judge cleared all the men of murder and convicted six men of grievous assault and three of simple assault.
Henderson's parents were upset with the decision to drop murder charges. Jill Henderson, Bakari Henderson's mother, is warning others against allowing their children to travel to Greece.
The men's sentences range from 5 to 15 years in prison.
