TUCSON, Ariz. — Hundreds of firearms have been seized following an investigation into an alleged illegal gambling operation in southern Arizona, officials said.
The Arizona Department of Gaming said Monday that two individuals are facing felony charges after officials launched an investigation into gun raffles in Tucson.
As a result of the investigation, officials reported seizing 452 firearms, ammunition, gun accessories and $4,000 in cash.
“Record-breaking seizures like this only further highlight the criminal activity that illegal gambling establishments attract when they go unregulated, posing a significant threat to public safety," Jackie Johnson, director of the Arizona Department of Gaming, said in a statement.
The state agency encouraged residents to ensure they are in compliance with state laws when conducting raffles.
