CENTENNIAL, Ariz. — Four people are dead after a wrong-way crash early Wednesday morning on I-10 west of the Valley, DPS said.
According to officials, around 1 a.m. on March 27, a wrong-way driver was reported eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-10 near milepost 64.
DPS and La Paz County Sheriff's Department responded to the report and said a Nissan pickup collided head-on with a Ford 15-passenger van in the westbound lane near milepost 67.8.
Authorities said both vehicles came to rest in the lane and were engulfed in flames.
There was no roadway evidence to indicate braking by either vehicle prior to impact, DPS said.
While at the scene, authorities said an alcoholic beverage container was found among the debris.
The driver of the Nissan and all 3 occupants in the Ford van are dead and DPS said the identification of the victims is pending.
Investigation into the crash continues.
