YUMA COUNTY, Ariz. — Three teenagers were detained Monday after one of them allegedly brought a firearm to school with the intention of scaring off a bully, the Yuma County Sheriff's Office said.
A 15-year-old and two 16-year-olds were booked into the Yuma County Juvenile Justice Center after deputies were dispatched Monday afternoon to Antelope Union High School for reports of a weapon on campus.
YCSO said one of the students had brought his parents' firearm to school and asked two friends to help conceal it in their backpacks. The student had reportedly regretted bringing the weapon to intimidate a bully.
A teacher was informed of the firearm and isolated the three teenagers until deputies arrived to seize the weapon.
Anyone with more information about this incident can contact YCSO at 928-783-4427.
