1 dead after car hits pedestrians standing on sidewalk in north Phoenix

The deadly crash was reported Thursday near 35th and Peoria avenues.

PHOENIX — One person has died after a traffic collision reported Thursday afternoon in north Phoenix. 

The incident was reported shortly after noon near the intersection of 35th and Peoria avenues.

Phoenix police said two vehicles were involved in a collision that pushed one of the cars off the roadway, where it struck multiple pedestrians.

Video footage shared with 12News shows a couple of people standing on the corner of the intersection when a vehicle suddenly swerves over the sidewalk and hits them.

One pedestrian, identified as 27-year-old Austin Coon, died after being taken to the hospital. Another female pedestrian was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The occupants of both cars were not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
