PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. — Country Thunder Arizona was postponed Friday. The music festival was scheduled to start on April 16.
The festival is held in Florence, Ariz., which is in Pinal County. The festival organizers say Governor Doug Ducey's announcement Thursday banned gatherings of more than 50 people in affected counties. Pinal County has ten confirmed cases of people with coronavirus.
Country Thunder Music Festivals said a new weekend would be announced for later in the fall. Tickets would be honored for the new dates.
"A great festival begins and ends with fan safety, and the comfort of patrons who attend our events," said Country Thunder CEO, Troy Vollhoffer in a news release. "It’s our mission to prove that good things will come to those who wait just a little longer."
Festivals and events around the world already took steps to flatten the curve and slow exposure of coronavirus so as not to overwhelm the healthcare system.
