PHOENIX — "I lost all my income streams in a matter of days," Mike Bauer said, "and a lot of the people I work with, the exact same situation happened to them."
Mike Bauer is the in-game host for the Diamondbacks...when they're playing. He's also a bar trivia host...when the bars are open. And the announcer for ASU Softball, which isn't playing either.
He's spent the last week applying for jobs but also passing on leads to anyone he knows who might them through a Facebook group he created called Stronger Together: Arizona.
"The idea behind Stronger Together: Arizona is that we can all provide resources for each other," Bauer said. "You know, maybe your grandma needs the lawn cut. Hey, I need $20 to go cut the lawn!"
It's not a job listing page, although people are passing on tips about companies that are hiring, like Costco, Target and Amazon.
It's about coming together and dealing with the way the world has changed.
Some posts deal with how to get food, which food prep services are still operating, another post about grants for out of work bartenders, anything that can get people through the times ahead.
"This is the kind of thing that, for them, it can make a huge difference if we can pool our resources for job opportunities or ways to save money," Bauer said.
