Goodyear teacher accused of sexually abusing 6th-grade student may enter plea deal

Brittany Zamora, the Goodyear teacher accused of having sex with a 13-year-old boy who was one of her students, was back in court Wednesday morning.

PHOENIX — Wednesday's court appearance by Brittany Zomara was very brief, lasting only five minutes. It was a motion by Zamora’s defense to delay the trial and set a plea date for some time in June.

The 28-year-old appeared in court Wednesday morning for a status hearing. The hearing set a trial date for September and a possible plea deal for June.

Zamora was arrested in March of 2018, accused of sexually abusing a 13-year-old boy who was one of her students.

Our I-Team investigation revealed Zamora allegedly lured the boy through an online school chat room that led to texting and ultimately sexual encounters in and out of her classroom.

Video obtained by 12 News reveals the heated conversation recorded by the boy's father with Zamora after the family discovered the alleged sexual abuse.

Zamora has been in jail since her arrest and has pleaded not guilty to child molestation charges and having sex with a minor.

We don’t know what the details of the possible plea deal are. The defense has until June 12 to decide if they’ll take the plea deal or go to trial in September.
